Checking exchange database shutdown state

So as the name of the blog suggests we are going to see how to check the shutdown state of a database with Microsoft's built in Exchange server database utility or Eseutil.

It's a piece of cake really and anyone could've googled and found out how to do this stuff on his own ( yeah i know i left out 'her', apologies). I am not bringing any path breaking extra knowledge to already existing stuff out there so feel free to leave if you want.PS: This is me assuming you've made it this far.

Anyway checking shutdown state is important to determine what are the options before for example if the state is dirty shutdown you can try and do a soft restore with Eseutil.

Checking the shutdown state is as simple as :  Eseutil /mh <path to database>

After figuring out the shutdown state if you decide to do a recovery using Eseutil and it doesn't work out for some reason , you can always rely on EdbMails EDB to PST exchange recovery tool to get the job done for you.
